A showing of the film Akong – A Remarkable Life will take place on Tuesday, 14 November 2017, at 7.30 – 9.30 pm, in the Garden Room at St Ethelwold’s House. This is a feature-length documentary capturing the fascinating and inspiring life of Akong Tulku Rinpoche: teacher, spiritual leader and doctor of Tibetan medicine.
After a perilous escape from Chinese-occupied Tibet in 1959, Akong Tulku Rinpoche went on to found the first Tibetan Buddhist monastery in the West – Kagyu Samye Ling in Scotland – which has become a renowned international centre for authentic Tibetan Buddhist teachings. He also established the charity ROKPA International, which funded a range of humanitarian projects in Tibet, Nepal, India and Africa. Through his powerful message of loving-kindness and compassion, and his humanitarian work around the world, Akong Tulku Rinpoche benefited the lives of countless people, and this film aims to make his inspirational life story available to future generations.
